About the Union
The National Union of Presbyterian Students – Ghana (NUPS-G) is the official student movement
of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana that brings together Presbyterian students and interested
Christian students in post- basic institutions in Ghana.These include universities, colleges of
education, senior high schools, nursing training colleges, polytechnics and other diploma
awarding institutions.

History of NUPS-G UG
The Union began at the Akuafo Hall Chapel of the University of Ghana (Legon) on 22 November
1959, with 39 members. The inaugural ceremony (official launch) took place at Legon Hall on 28
February 1960. The first branch President (Legon) was Rev. E. S. Mate-Kodjo (later Synod Clerk
of PCG). In 1962 the idea had spread and other branches (such as at the Kwame Nkrumah
University of Science & Technology – KNUST) were being established. A significant evangelistic
programme of the Union called “SICE” (Students-In-Church-Evangelism), later renamed P-SICE
(Presbyterian Students In Church Evangelism), is one of its hallmark national engagement
activities.
